Privacy policy

Last updated 7 October 2026

Awayday shows fixtures, ground guides and matchday travel options. It has no accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking cookies. This page explains the little data it does handle.

Stored on your device only

Your club, the teams and players you follow, your language and similar settings are saved in your phone's or browser's local storage so the app remembers them. They never leave your device. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes them. The app also keeps copies of pages you've viewed so guides still open without signal. Those copies never include your location or directions.

Location and postcodes

Awayday only uses your location when you tap “Use my location”, or type a postcode or address, to get directions, train times, fares or fuel prices. When you do, our server sends it to the services below to work out the answer:

Our server keeps results in memory for up to six hours so repeat requests are fast. It doesn't write them to disk, tie them to you or log them. Your location is never used for anything else, and it is never sold or shared for advertising.

Requests and IP addresses

Like any website, our server sees your IP address with each request. It holds it in memory briefly to limit how often one device can call the routing services, and doesn't record it. Our host (Render) may keep standard access logs for a short period to operate and secure the service. Maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) and the map library from unpkg.com, which receive your IP address in the normal way.

Links to other sites

Ticket, travel and booking links (clubs, Kayak, Skyscanner, Booking.com, National Rail, coach operators and others) open those sites, and their own privacy policies apply there.

Children

Awayday isn't aimed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from them.
